Dateline: Bernie: June 14, 2011
Note: To follow our Olympic Park adventure from beginning to end, choose Plans are made from the index at right.
At Pike Place we shopped for a special treat to take on out trip (but more about that later). A trip to the QFC near University Place gave us the staples we needed, other yummy stuff and some (the other beverages required a special stop) beverages.
We picked up a borrowed cooled after dinner on Monday at a wonderful restaurant called the Bleu Bistro on (don't pay attention to any of those people behind that curtain) Capitol Hill.
The next morning we were up at 6:30 am to catch the Bremerton Ferry to the Peninsula. We packed the car (ok, we stuffed the car) and were off. Out adventure had truly begun.
We raced through the streets onto the 5 and, oh no! The exit ramp we needed was under construction! Chaz and Lizzie conferred, travel strategy was altered and we quickly out maneuvered more construction down by the Ferry terminals, paid the fare and pulled into loading lane. Only to see our Ferry slowly pulling away from the dock.
We spent the hour until the next Ferry getting coffee (we left the car in the loading lane and walked down to the Sourdough Bread place, but it didn't open until 9 am, imagine that a bakery not open in the morning) and looking at the sights on the pier.
Back in the car at 8:30 am we boarded the Bremerton Ferry and were really now on our way!
